On 14 October, members of our Policy-Making working group met at the Czech National Institute of Mental Health for “Cost-Effectiveness of PAT: Between Access and Payers”, hosted by PsychedelicsEUROPE on the margins of SCALE 2026. The meeting focused on the economic case for psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) and the path towards reimbursement.

Alongside WG6 members, the meeting brought together experts in the cost-effectiveness of PATs, insurance companies and regulators, serving as a platform for policy dialogue, advocacy and stakeholder engagement. The shared aim was to translate scientific and regulatory progress into practical implementation and improved patient access.

A roundtable moderated by Mariana Štefková addressed key questions on how evidence can be translated into access:

🔹 What exactly would a payer be purchasing? A medicine, a treatment session or a full therapeutic programme?
🔹 How should economic models account for long-term benefits and the uncertainties surrounding them?
🔹 What would a minimum viable reimbursement pilot look like?
🔹 Which institution should take responsibility for bridging the gap between a legal framework and a functioning, funded care pathway?

A big thank you to all speakers, panellists and participants, and to PsychedelicsEUROPE and the National Institute of Mental Health for hosting. We look forward to building on these discussions to support patient access to psychedelic-assisted therapies across Europe!
